Swimming Club at th British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships 2009.
Chase Swimming Club's Ben Wood has 10 National Qualifying Times which breaks a club record of 9 National Qualifying Times held by Commonwealth medallist Terri Dunning.
14yr old Ben qualified in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, 200m backstroke, 200m Individual Medley and the 400m Individual Medley.
Ben will be joined at Sheffield for the British Age Group Championships by fellow Chase swimmer Laura Bloomer (13) who excelled at the recent Regional Championships qualifying her for 4 National events.
Laura qualified in the 200m freestyle, 100m breast stroke, 200m breast stroke and the 200m Individual Medley.
Another first for Chase Swimming Club was the qualification of 2 boys team events - the 4 x 200m freestyle relay and the 4 x 100m medley event.
Following
their superb display at the Midlands Championships Peter Sullivan
(13), Adam Silvester (14), Rory Seager (14)
and Jon Brachmanski (14) will join Ben and Laura at
Sheffield's Ponds Forge, the venue for the National Age Group Championships,
this week.
The competition runs from the 22nd to 26th July and features the very best young swimmers Britain has to offer. The standard is incredibly high. To achieve one qualification time is a reflection of hard work, talent and commitment. To achieve 10 is fantastic, and just shows how gifted Ben is.
All of the swimmers are members of Chase Swimming Club's Senior Squad, coached by Head Coach Paul Grainger. Paul is understandaby proud of his swimmers. "We have a tremendous team spirit at the club and swimmers are working hard for their deserved success. Our club is having one of its most successful years and we will be building on this performance platform."
Chase are particularly interested in hearing from younger swimmers; children entering years 2, 3 or 4 in September.

Chase Swimming Club has proved yet again that it is one of the most successful clubs in the region when 21 of its swimmers met the tough qualifying times for a total of 107 events in the recent Midlands Championships. A staggering 12 of those swimmers were placed in the Top Ten at this event for their individual performances in 40 events.

ACHIEVED
In
March 2009 Chase Swimming Club achieved Swim 21 Accreditation
in Skill Development for all swimmers.
Chase also achieved Swim 21 Accreditation at the Foundation level for Masters swimmers
Swim 21 is the ASA's Club Development model - a planning tool, based on the principles of Long Term Athlete Development, enabling clubs to help athletes, teachers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential. It focuses particularly on the needs of athletes - striving to provide them with the best possible support and environment.
Swim 21 Accreditation is a 'Quality mark'. It recognises nationally and regionally the clubs that are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members.
Swim 21 Accreditation is available to ASA clubs of all aquatic disciplines that are positioned at one or more of the four levels of:
Teaching
Skill Development
Competitive Development
Performance
Chase Swimming Club has now achieved the Skill Development level
of swim21 Accreditation for all swimmers including Masters level
Skill Development – where the athletes develop their technical skill within a quality programme of coaching and competition, supported by sound governance;
