It was Saturday evening the 26th February 2005 and I was making my way along the M73 to the Shawlands Hotel for the club’s Annual Dinner and Disco Night. I began to realize I had been on the road too long and it was with great embarrassment that ‘’Magenta the Maid” had to creep into a service station and ask directions. Never mind, with a jump to the left and then a step to the right, I eventually found the Shawlands.
Thank you everyone who supported the dance, I am sure everyone enjoyed themselves. Roberta Downie a voluptuous brunette from Slamannan alias Frank N Furter won the fancy dress. As I have said before, it is the members who take the time to dress up that make the night a success and I think it was very hard to pick the winner as the standard of fancy dress was very high.
Hush! Hush! Nudge!Nudge! did you notice how at ease our male club members were in suspenders and stockings.
Ticket numbers had noticeably dropped this year due to members who had moved away or were ill, our friends from the South were also sadly missed and we hope to see some of them next year. We are also thinking of Bobby Boyle who came to the dance although very poorly and ended up in hospital the following week. We all wish you a speedy recovery Bobby and remember we need you for the burgers!
